HDSP Retrievable Storm Packer
Description
The HDSP Retrievable Storm Packer is used in production, stimulation, perforating, gravel packing and testing applications. Because of it’s heavy duty components it may also be outfitted with a PSV Storm Valve and used to hang drill pipe strings when needed. The hydraulic hold downs are below the pressure equalization valve. The tool features a proven three element packing system and a hydraulically controlled balance piston designed to keep the by-pass closed when set. The tools are available in 139.7 mm (5 1/2″) through 508.0 mm (20″) casing. Comes standard with API IF thread connections.
Operation
Setting the packer is accomplished by running to depth, picking up 0.60 m (2 ft) and rotating 2/3 turns to the right and setting down.
Straight pick-up of the tubing will first open the bypass valve and equalize pressure, continued pick-up will release the packer and automatically engage the packer in the running position for further operations up or down the hole.
